Why doesn't CLK55 come with 469+ hp engine?

That makes sense, A CLK55 cabrio with 500hp would be a serious competitor to an SL55, I for one, would go with the CLK.
Couldn't the same arguement be said about the E class, they put the same engine in the E55 and S55.
