Oil Filter assembly; clog or valve?

This should be an easy question but I cant find a diagram or hands on another to compare. Can anyone tell me if there is a "bb" in the base of the oil filter assembly to serve as a one-way valve (or I have a clog). Cant get air to move thru the shaft (blue in pic) and what ever it is that looks like a bb inside wont move in either direction.

Please see photo. Many thanks!

Not an expert by any means but I believe you have the direction of oil flow backwards. Oil comes up the tube into the inner part of the filter, goes through the filter and is drained back into the engine. The BB you are talking about is a spring loaded check valve to prevent oil draining back from the pressure side of the oil system. There may be little movement of the BB, don't forget oil pressure is pushing the BB out of the way and then closing after shutdown. Air may not have enough force to move the ball.
