'01 E55 AMG - Brilliant Silver (very rare)/ Charcoal, K2a
Awesome pics HP !!!
Its just so hard to tell if a car looks good from pics only (thought the new 7-Series was going to fall hard when I looked at the pics ... but I think it ... and its rear-end ... look much better in person than in the spy-photos prior to the cars release).
I like the CL-'esq look of the new CLK (no B pillar) ... the rear tailights are unique to the new CLK-Class ... and just love the shift-buttons on the steering wheel too.
Now that I look at the pics again ... I see in the steeringwheel shot 3-stalks? (is one for voice? ... on US models that stalk is on the other side).
Thanks again HP!

In Europe the Linguatronic lever is on the right side as well. The third (lowest) lever you mentioned is for the new electric steering column/wheel adjustment (in/out-up/down).
If combined with memory seats, the steering wheel will move up (as soon as you pull the ignition key) and the driver seat moves back about 2.5" to better get off the car. Of course the opposite happens if you enter...

HP, thanks for posting the pics. Do you by any chance have any more pics of that CLK55? I'd like to see
1. A closeup pic of these new 18-inch AMG Styling IV wheels
2. A pic taken from directly in front, reasonably close-up
3. A pic taken from directly from the rear, reasonably close-up
Do you have any pics like that you can post?

CLK55
I'm really starting to think this car will be a hugh hit here in the states! These photos make the car look very appealing & the speed shift buttons on the steering wheel is a very nice touch. Does anyone know if this car will have the Bi-Xenon light like the CL and new SL?

bi xenon headlights
I think I remember reading somewhere that the bi-xenon headlights will be an option on the the clk. I just hope that they at least make the regular xenon standard on at least the 500. because I hate to have to get a whole package with other options i do not want, just for the lights.

The BiXenon option ($~1100) seems the only way to get Xenon lights on any CLK, at least here in Europe.
I have no idea how the US pricing will look like, but the base price for the CLK55 in Switzerland (with better base equipment > rain sensor, speed shift, driving light assistant, etc.) is about $3800 lower (!) than the old 55.

I think I have those pics. Will post em' tonight.

Bi-Xenons
Thanks for the info.! I hope the 55 is that much less than the W208 body, if you think about it, it should be cheaper since the parts they are using are already available. They will not have to pay additional cost to suppliers for all new electronics.

After browsing through as many pics I could find of the 209 CLK, I decided I have to wait and see it in person....the CLK55 I think looks HOTT, however if you dont' get the AMG bodykit the car looks depressing. I have been waiting to order the CLK55 for a while now and was about to do so a couple of days ago when I was told that the body has been changed, I can only hope it has been changed for the better....also I am really feelin' the cross drilled rotors and new calipers.....can't wait to see this bad boy in person!!! IF ANYONE HAS PICS PLEASE POST THEM!!!!

*gg* yes, they produce a CLK 200
but not for the United States!
and certainly not for Bahrain, too
So you'll have to make some more money...
or import the CLK from Europe...

I think it will take some getting use to but, will make a hit when it shows up. The first take kind of reminds me of the C Class.
The current CLK model is tough to beat.

I like the new CLK, but think the current model is still more attractive. The new one has nice details, but looks a little less sleek, and, dare I say, a little less cohesive.
jesej, really nice-looking car!

Return of the Pinto
That photo and angle of the new CLK immediately brought to mind the Ford Pinto. That's not all bad either as it was a stunning little car when it first came out and gave the Mustang a run for its money in the same family. So perhaps Mercedes is just riding the retro revolution ala the PT Cruiser.
