clk63 mpg accurate?
is the dashboard display of accumulated MPG accurate? It seemed so to me at first, but I just got 19.5 MPG from NYC to the midwest and that's AFTER spending 3 hours in NYC traffic for the first 70 miles.
granted I was on snotty roads so my foot was probably the lightest it will ever be. but still. 19.5 MPG is better than I get with the old mini van. lol

I suspect the calculation is a bit generous. I averaged 23+mpg according to the display with an average speed of 63 MPH. That seemed the optimal rate for economy. Cruise control helped quite a bit. The numbers drop radically with stop and go speeds

i only had 2 gas slips, and one included NYC, but the second one divided out to 18.5 MPG. 218 miles and 11.784 gallons to fill it.
I bet its a lot worse going the other way on dry roads ;-)

I have to admit, on my old stomping grounds... on the empty back roads, twisties, and 4 way stops... I was lucky to get 16 mpg. The ESP light may have been on, oh, all the damn time ;-)
Coming back to NYC, two full tanks of gas @ 11.756 and 14.030 gallons. 514.3 miles. The car says I got 20.9 MPG, but the gas pumps say it was only 19.94 MPG.
I'm honestly amazed at the mileage.
Most of it was cruise control at 80-85, but daytime, so every damn 30 feet, slow to 60 for the side by side trucks and the dumbasses sipping sleepy time tea in the fast lane, then crank it back up to cruising speed. But the last 100 miles was, um, quite spirited (I had a 530i to play with) ;-)
My new saying is "Sing Guido, Sing!"

That is good stuff man.
The beauty of the MB V8s...they can be quite easy to live with and turn in decent gas mileages putzin' around all normal-like; and then you can let the dogs out with all of the go pedal.
You Brooklyn or Bronx? I forget. I'm on Clinton Ave in Brooklyn enough...just not with the Cab (yet). We should GTG when the weather is nicer...

S-mode I've gotten 21-22mpg for long highway/back country road trips (300-500+ mi). In manual it's less bc I have a lead foot and love my car. In stop and go traffic it's 8-11ish mpg, which is somewhat of a crazy swing, but whatever.
