I've heard of lowball offers....

I suggest you lease your 996 anni edition as well. The 997s are due soon and I strongly suspect that all 996s will take a heavy price drop. Or you could try negotiating a low residiual with a low intrest rate for your lease with the option to buy out.....

How about a bid someone?
Allen - If someone offerred you an '02 55 with only 18K you should have taken it. Those are going for between $42 and $46 even on the low-priced eBay. If you tried regular retail (rather than the wholesale market eBay has turned into), you may get more. My dealer said that if he can work my trade out, he would put my '01 55 on his lot OVER $50K simply because there aren't that many of them. If the '02 was one of the blue ones with that two tone interior, you were right to stay away as that color combo only appeals to the younger (usually less financially advantaged crowd) and I have verified of '02's in that flavor going as low as $38 from other boards.

On Porsches
Granted, I know I'm on a Benz board, and I love both my 55 cab and my C32, but to this guy, there is nothing like a 911. Agreed, it's not as practical, it's not as luxurious, and it may not even be any more of a performance car, but after three of them, I'm just into them. In a perfect world, I could afford all three! I love the black C32 sedan for business, I like the ability to put my top down and listen to the 55's V8 rumble, and I fondly recall pushing a 911 out of an interstate on ramp at speed into (and past) traffic, working up through the gears, until I'm in triple digits.
I appreciate the lease advice, I was aware that the '05 997 is due out as early as the Detroit sow next winter, and like the 209/208 debacle I am now feeling, the resale hit on the 996 cars will be pronounced. Thanks, everyone!

hey guys,
in this weeks issue of Autoweek.
someone is advertising a CLK500 or 55 cabriolet for 5000 over sticker.
this is a brand new car. must be a dealer.
now who in their right mind is going to pay OVER sticker for any car!!! all cars depreciate. why pay over sticker and speed up the process!!

As for the resale value. I got beat up on the 996, and when I sold my CLK in July even with all the money I had in it $58K (with 16K miles) was all I could get out of it. It's sade but I took it!
Best of luck to ya,

How do you like your new Lamborghini?

LAMBO?
It's not a Lambo but the new Z06 is a nice car. It's not even in the same class as an M/B, two completely different cars.
I miss the M/B, but the Z06 is a racecar right out of the box.
I hope to have another M/B by late next year. I'll keep the Z06 to play with and have the M/B as my daily driver, if things work out.
The whole S/C thing did leave a black cloud, but the Kleemann system is still high on my list for quality aftermarket performance.

This Lambo at last month's Miami Beach Auto Show is like a chameleon:
It changes colors! Unreal!

Wha't amazing is that out of all these cars, the 430 and 320 (?) cabs are still holding the strongest. I suppose just more of a marketplace for them. Also, I can't recall the miles on your car, was it around 30k? Designo cars are usually not as strong resale wise as your best basic colors (black, white, silver). Just thought you might find this interesting.

an update from the thread starter...
...I found the limited edition 996 I was looking for at a different Porsche dealership, and was able to get $50k for my CLK 55 cab (28,000 miles), AND a discount of $3k off the 40th anniversary 911, which the dealer in my home town had wanted full MSRP for. That was a swing of about $13k on a $98k car between dealerships. So, sad to say, but after my CLK 55 fling, I'm headed back to the 996 boards. I pick the new one up the day after Christmas. It's been a fun two years, everyone...thanks for the advice and suggestions. I guess I'll need to change my username now.
