Selling CLK55 Cab and looking for CLK63 Cab
Friends,
My 06 CLK55 cab has been a great car, but I am nevertheless now in the market to buy a CLK 63 cab on the west coast. Any help would be appreciated. My car will then be for sale, and it is very nice. Thanks.

i saw one in LA a few months ago and was encouraging my friend to get. He ended up passing and got a CLK550 instead, but I had told him I'd consider it if I didn't already own a 2006 CLK55 Cab. I'm curious why you'd like to switch as I'm not sure it feels that much faster in real life driving. In addition, I REALLY like my white/blk combo, and thus far I've not been able to find many clean CLK63 cabs out there, esp w/ the right options. Good luck and look fwd to hearing what you do.

I stepped up from a CLK 430 to an 08 CLK 63. I searched for several months and found 3 cars that were garage queens. Eventually I made my purchase and have been pleased by the car in all ways.
I vastly prefer the W209 amenities over my 208. I tend to agree with a previous post that the performance difference between the 55 and 63 is not substantial...both are pulse pounding beasts.
You're in a win win scenario. I know of a couple high mileage cars out here in the east...I have not been following availability out your way. Good luck making the choice. I enjoyed my search for just the right car.

Thanks. I know there won't be much performance improvement, which is fine because I never really feel like hammering a cab anyway. But I like the car so much, and don't see any better options for a 4-seat convertible on the horizon, so I thought I would spend a little more and get the last of its kind. However, I spend time on the C63 board and the headbolt issues are scaring me a bit. So I am sorta moving slowly.

I gotta say, with nearly 100 more horses and twist...there is a very noticeable bump in performance IMO over the 5.5s. There's also a noticeable improvement in the amount of cash to get into one too.
The headbolt issue 'can' affect every M156 prior to 2010...but the number of failures is relative to how hard the car is driven. It's not the end of the car if a bolt breaks tho and you catch it time. Upgraded OE bolts and tappets are under a grand. The Weistec head studs are even a better idea.
