Tell me that there is one that will fit...

Guys,
Someone backed into my front bumper in the airport parking lot, dinged me pretty good so a new bumper is going on this week. I'm staying with the OEM bumper with the valance. In looking at the vehicle with the guys at the body shop I realized how much it bugged me that there was no center mesh wire grill on the car when I bought it. In looking at the diagram for the bumper cover it looks like there isn't a center mesh grill on the W208, though they were on the W209 and most every MBZ since, e.g.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2000-2002-w215-MERCEDES-CL500-CL55-CL600-AMG-FRONT-BUMPER-CENTER-MESH-GRILLE-OEM-/121186158039?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c374205d7
Obviously this is just an example but my point is that mesh serves a purpose, it keeps rocks and small crap from flying into the fins of the rad and air condensor , etc. My question:
1) does anyone have a part number, US, Canada, Euro, Samoan or otherwise for a W208 center mesh grill, i.e. it would sit behind the bumper cover and the valance and in front of the rad etc?
2) if not, has anyone found that the center mesh grill from a different model MBZ fits our w208 AMG bumpers?

I note that ebay has several listings for center mesh grills that say that they fit the W208 front bumper cover but when run the compatibility widget thingy it says yes for CLK 320 but no for AMG style bumpers. Anyone had any luck getting one of those to fit and look nice?

I can't be the only guy who is bothered by this "gap"/ ""void" behind the valance. Thanks.

Hey CR,
Sorry to hear about the airport incident, I like the park n fly lots with better security.

Anyway, the mesh grill is very similar to special stucco screen applications found at the local hardware. If you spend some time and build a card board replica. purchase some tin snips , you can craft one pretty cheap.

I have a friend at work who just installed a custom intercooler on his car facing the same dilemma.

I am bothered by the gap but hoping to find the proper centerpiece to offset the look.

Cheers, Gator

Absolutely! I went the Home depot wire mesh route when I installed an intercooler on my 4x4. It works great. I was hoping for a more finjshed solution for this vehicle. Something that already has tabs to secure it to brackets etc. Thanks. Still curious if mesh froma different Benz is close and can be modified.

The beauty and the beast 55.

I know there is a crafty fix for this under a fin.
