Dyno Mode Idea for A208 / W210's
So, from what I can tell, the basics of "Dyno Mode" for the A209 W211 is that it disables ABS, BAS, and ESP... Us in the A208 W210 world don't get that fun toy... However. If one were to momentarily disable the brake light switch while the car was on, then the car disables all of those..... So my thought is, to add a momentary switch where it can interrupt the brake lamp switch long enough to throw those codes and disable those systems... Thus, giving us a makeshift Dyno mode... I interestingly had that issue the other night (usually happens for some reason with the wet weather) and just tapped the throttle spinning up the rear tires verily easily. Thoughts?

It would be very interesting to know, the proper way to completely disable the traction control system since the W208/W210 do not have this function through the hidden features in the instrument cluster.

I've tried it.... It seems to work... My next step in the process is a relay system connected to a momentary switch in the center console. It seems to also negate torque management. I will try and build a plug and play setup for those who may be interested after more testing. Throttle response is enhanced by reducing torque management (seems to be at least) and I'll post some test results.

Ok guys so I had my brake light switch fail completely, causing the BAS, ESP, ABS issue... If I punch it right now at a stop sign, in the dry, no brake stand, it will spin the tires through first and second gear, if I just disable ESP by the console switch, I barely get Tire Spin... While Tire Spin isn't the goal here, the car also has awesome throttle response on the low-end. So, I'm about to go to Radio Shack for a momentary-latching 12v switch and put it inline thus disabling the brake light switch while pushing the brakes, tripping the failure of the ABS / ESP / BAS systems which is basically "Dyno Mode" on the newer models. I will go take a video of tire spin without tripping those systems to shut off and just turning the ESP off with the switch, then I'll post a video of tire spin with the systems completely off.
Thanks,
Scott

Ok Guys... I finished this project... Works like a charm! I will post some pictures... I will post the radio shack part numbers so you can get them while there is still a radio shack to buy them from! Stay tuned for a complete write-up, and the ability to stamp on the throttle and burn your tires off through first, second, and into third gear! And no torque management to boot!

Looks like fun, I want to give it a whirl as well.
Hope fully we dont get a permanent CEL. If the radio shack part becomes obsolete there are many electronic supply options like Allied, DigiKey.

Been Using for a month or so on and off... No CEL... All Lights reset after starting the engine again.... In fact, no codes stored in the system at all after this.

It should.... I'm not familiar with what happens on the 209's when the brake lamp switch fails. If it throws the big 3 off... ABS BAS ESP then yes, it should work.... I've been trying to figure out where I want to put the switch... I think it's going in the ashtray... I don't want it visible.

Sorry I've left everyone hanging... It's up and working very well.... I have a very busy weekend but I'll try and take pictures and post a How-To.... I'm considering even offering a kit as it required a relay a few other parts and power to do it nicely...

Hey Guys, I've done quite a bit of testing with no ill-effects so far at all... I am a little concerned about posting this because of liability of having it disable the ABS and BAS as well. I cannot be held responsibility of any injuries or deaths that this could cause.... Here's an example, because it disables the torque management and also basically does what a sprint booster does (direct drive instead of torque managed throttle response) so, lets say you pop it into the "dyno mode" for a quick race, and you run the guy / girl next to you up to 100+ and you slam on the brakes expecting the normal braking performance, then boom, then lock-up into a 200ft slide.....
So, See my delimma? I want to post this for everyone, but I also want to make sure I have no liability in the matter. Any suggestions guys and gals?
