I am experiencing a problem with the controls in the steering wheel of my CLK

The chassis model number is W209

Example:

The volume controls switch function with the answer phone and reject buttons. Intermittently.

What places can I check? What could be causing this..?

I would try to spray contact cleaner under the switches, if that fails might need to remove the airbag to clean or replace the switches.
