Time For Daddy To Bow Out !

Gentlemen,
The time has come for me to move on, back to the platform I love and shouldn't be without. I just purchased a 2003 PORSCHE 996 Targa with Aero Kit and Techno Package.
I will be picking up my new baby this Saturday. As for my 02 CLK55 ///AMG I sold it to a friend of mine Gary. I will introduce him to this forum so he can learn and communicate with you guys. Thanks again for the answers to my many questions and hope you all of you have a happy, fun and safe new year. I attached a picture of the Targa for your viewing pleasure. Again Best of Luck to you all.

Oh I forgot, I can't post anything - sorry you can also check rennlist to see my black beauty.

Sorry to see you go. Did you ever find out what was wrong with your CLK? I find it to be a solid car that in the vast majority of cases has a reliable drivetrain.

It sounds like you're a diehard Porsche guy and I hope it makes you happy. I also hope you continue to support the AMG even though it didn't meet all your needs. Despite it being a great car, I sold my M3 because it was giving me trouble and the CLK fit my immediate needs better but occasionally I miss the M3. To this day I still cite a major reason I sold my M3 (great car) was because of the abysmal dealer service and the Geo Metro or Dodge Ram loaners they would provide. Every dealer is different but I couldn't be happier with my MB dealer except for the prices.

Every car has compromises and it is near impossible to find one car that satisfies everything. I was half a breath away from taking a 1999 C4 for the same amount of money as the 2001 CLK55 I got 6 months ago but I couldn't justify it for my needs. As my daily car, I sit in too much traffic, the running costs for a car out of warranty were more than I wanted to pay and I couldn't easily fit my golf clubs in the C4. I wish I could find the 208 body shape with the AMG motor, BMW 6-speed manual transmission that rides like an E-class with DVD Nav and handles like the C4, but I can't seem to find it in Black Opal. Anyway, I enjoyed your posts and wish you good luck.

Thanks for your kind words - the problem regarding my CLK55 was due to the Mass air sensor and two other bugs which I can't remember at the moment, anyway the car is running fine. I still very much like the AMG and will alway think of them as VERY fine cars. After all I know what they are capable of, I never plan of racing one in a straight line. Best of luck.
