Been looking for an 05 w209 clk55 amg...finally found a clean one owner fully loaded 72k miles at a local dealer but they are asking 17k for it.

Here is my dilemma, I'm going to be stationed in Korea for a year as of July 1st...now I can easily store it .. But my question is will the value of these cars depreciate much more in the following year? Will I be able to find a 1 owner 05 for this price? Although unlikely, I'm telling myself I'd go for 15k with all fees and taxes.

Please tell me your thoughts I'm going to see the car on Sunday

Thanks

I'm confused, are you asking if you wait a year, will you be able to find one for less?

If so, there's no straight answer. Prices for 05 CLK coupes(and C55's) are largely all over the place. Some think they should be E55 pricing because of rarity, and they usually sit. Quite a few though are right around the price/mileage of the one you're looking at. That being said, it's a 10 year old car. Depreciation has largely set in, and although it's not at rock bottom, it doesn't have a whole lot of room to go lower.

For what it's worth, I just bought my 05 with 56K. I spent two years looking for a clean coupe. I specifically wanted a black on black 05 coupe. They sold 247 coupes in 05. Finding a clean car can be done, it's just getting harder. I found on average 1 to 2 cars came up each month in my nation wide search. I live in Seattle the car I bought was in Dallas. The prices for 05 cars was typically 5K higher than the 03 and 04 cars that came up with 03 and 04 cars running 10 to 12k and the 05 cars running 16 to 19K depending on mileage and condition. I paid 18K for my car from a dealer. That price included new tires, new side view mirror turn signal lens and some time with a paintless dent remover to remove a couple of very minor dings. I am super happy with my purchase and I think it was fair based on what I've seen come up for sale over the last two years.

It very good points. I'm hoping the car is as good as it looks on paper. Going to make sure I check the brakes and see if the transmission has been done.

Ill post on here after I check it out tomorrow

Thanks again

well, I think these cars go in waves .... up and down ... I have a 2003 clk55 fully maintained with 60k miles in near mint condition and I bet I could get 16-17k for it all day long -- I prefer the 03-04 because parts are cheaper than 05's so being that its an AMG you need all the help you can get on parts maintenance cost -- one example? rotors between the 2 is almost double last I checked

This is because they were upgraded in 05
