need tire help
i still have my stock rims on my 01 clk55 so the front width is 7.5 and 8.5 in the rear. the original stock set up was 225/45 in the front and 245/40 in the rear. i wanna go a little wider with the tires, so will 235/45 in the front and and 255/40 in the rear fit the stock rims?
also, will it affect anything else? i.e. sometimes when you dont go with the stock set up, it affects the speedo.

You might try posting in the wheel/tire forum, BUT...
...I do know that Tire Rack http://www.tirerack.com/ recommends using a 9" rim for the 255/40-17. However, they also give a width range of 8.5"-10", so it still might work.
On mine, I stuck a set of 18x9" E55 (W210) rims on the rear and went with 265/35-18's to get more traction. These seem to do OK...again, they recommended a wider rim (9.5" vs my 9's, with a range of 9"-10.5") for this size, but given that the E55's had a 275mm rear tire on this rim stock, I figure that I'm OK with the 265mm width.
