battery size can vary between 95 - 100Ah, these batteries are big and HEAVY to lift and carry!
buy a good quality brand battery, don't buy cheap stuff as they are no good.
if you remove battery, you need to relearn the power windows and stereo code.
you will also receive error codes when you cut the power.
btw!
when you remove battery do NOT close your trunk, otherwise trunk will lock and you might not be able to unlock it!!
you then need to hook up your car to a battery charger power source in the engine bay to unlock your trunk putting in the new battery.
some battery chargers like more expensive versions of swedish CTEK chargers has the option that can operate the 12V power inside the car while the battery is out.
check with a mechanic before you do anything if you're not sure about your problem?
alternator on my car is 150 ampere, might be smaller on your 320?
good luck fixing your car.

I actually bought it a week ago, I have not used it yet but Im dying to hehe.
I am doing a full Service now, so I dont have any problems later.
Changed the 12 sparkplugs, MAF, distribution chain, gaskets, Steering damper, Oil vapor tubes, all filters inc petrol, etc etc.
That car i extemely expensive here in Uruguay, I paid 28.000 dollars for it hehe I keep reading how you guys in the US get them for about 5.000
Id there anything else that you think I should do/change to the car?
there is a webpage named detalirussia if i'm not mistaken, when you hit your VIN, this web-options list will show what your car was delivered with.
someone can chime in with correct www address.
you have the old style transmission 1234-PRND, check ASAP if you have any records of tranny service?
oil must be changed every 5-60000km's
otherwise you might face serious trouble!!
valvebody goes bad, conductor plate goes bad, pilotbushing goes bad, internal bearing parts goes bad if tranny oil was never changed, buy the new style magnet which you can put inside the tranny picking up metal shavings.
cps goes bad with start problems when engine is hot, after cool down car will start.
airmass sensor = MAF goes bad
o2 sensors goes bad
harmonic balancer on crankshaft goes bad
belt tensioner goes bad
idler pulley goes bad
timing chain might have a slack giving snake rattle on idle
rust on body is a massive problem on certain cars depending on climate.
other than that your car is a w202 in CLK-disguise.
$28,000 dollars importing it to Uruguay must be very steep, i hope car value in your country lasts for many years otherwise next time you sell your car you will lose lots of money.

I didn't import the car myself, it was imported in 2010 by the previous owner, I just bought it last week.
The price of this car is around 30k here so I got it at a good price.
The tranny is supposed to have gone through a service recently, I think It had an electrical problem where it didn't shift properly, it always shifted as if the car was cold even when it was not, or something like that.
What is the CPS? the car indeed has a startup problem sometimes but even if it is cold its like if the starter gets stucked or something so you have to take the key out and start it again and usually it works, dunno what that might be, I was told there was a plug or something that usually gets wet or humid and it might be the cause, or maybe the crankshaft sensor.
I already changed the MAF and the timing belt, I incorrectly called it distribution belt in the previous post.
What do you mean that my car is a W202 in disguise? is that a bad thing?
start problems might be your key with EIS system, EIS not recognising the key on start up, best thing to do is to go to dealership and connect car to STAR to check error codes for start issues.
key has to click with car computer for proper start, if not you have start problems, it's also a theft protection device.
electrical problem on your tranny was probably the conductor plate going bad.
round pilot bushing causes tranny to leak oil.
your CLK is based on the w202 platform chassie.
it's a w202 C-class with 2 doors removed and different design.
w202 is a very good car, the last of the true classic MB cars
i bet stealerships have some loco pricetags in Uruguay for MB cars.
if you bought your car from a shop, make sure it's in the best shape,
if you got any warranty let shop pay for every issue you have on your car, 28xxx dollars is a very high pricetag, hope you got warranty on this 16 year old car?
Nope I did not, I bought it from someone, not a shop.
Everything here costa 3 times what it costs there heeh and the worst part is that an "ordinary" worker, and by that I mean someone who finished school, highschool, and has a profession actually makes no more than 1.000 US dollars a month, so its crazy really how prices can be this high when 99% of people cant afford it.
But thats just the way it is.. lets not get into politics hehe
wow thats not even an AMG and its going for that price...might have to add that to the AMG POSER thread
enjoy the car and for more further questions try and post it in the w208 NON AMG section (coupes) for more detailed answers and people who will drive the same EXACT car as you =)
You said something about the EIS system... if that is actually the problem, what should I change for it to get fixed? the hole key and keyfob?
I am gonna read all the codes on the weekend and Ill try to post them here if thats not a problem for you.
Thank you
hey
check this ebay link below.
EIS is the part on the upper right corner with keyfob
I think this part is very expensive at the stealership?!
Don't buy anything until you are sure what's wrong with your car after you checked the codes!!
Otherwise it will be very expensive for you wasting money on parts that you didn't have to change
Thank you, Kowalski.
I will not but anything until I check the codes.
I hope that part is not very expensive here because I cannot buy in ebay or anywhere else something that has a price higher than 200 US dollars including shipping because customs would not let it through.
main thing is to check codes first, then you know what to do.
someone here can help you out explaining codes as I don't have a diagram describing every code.
i hope you only face a cheap problem.
if the worst thing happens and you have to buy a new key or EIS?
these parts are very expensive in my country, might be the same for you in Uruguay?
Update:
I did a reset on the codes of the climate control, holding both auto buttons and It cleared the codes and then nothing else showed up, like I have no error but it is still not working ( not hot air).
I am pretty sure the Duo-Valve is not working but I find it strange that no error codes come up
