2004 CLK55 W209 Engine Air Filter

Dear Community:

I removed the over-engine unit that houses my two engine air filters. After flipping it over, I see eight screws. Can anyone provide with the specifics on the tool I need remove the screws? I bought a metric hex wrench set but it is obviously not correct for the job.

I would appreciate your specific guidance on the right tool for the job!

Mike

You need a set of Torx bits. I think the screws for the air boxes are like #15 Torx...

Thank you for the advice, floridawriter -- I appreciate you!
I got a Torx wrench and removed the covers with a # 15.
I was happy to see MB-brand filters in the air boxes from the last owner.
New filters are on their way to me.

Should you ever happen to find a broken screw or a damaged one. Mercedez don't keep the right sized head anymore but the ones listed on other models will work. Just use your vin number and look for the screw under the air filter assembly. They ordered mine from another engine and like I said, same thread just different torx driver used.
GUD filters from memory are printed MANN filters on the under side of them. Have been told they are just as good for use as long as you are using fleet paper filters.

You don't want paper oil filters. You want to use only fleece filters. Mann filters are the best. Remember to change all the o rings each time. Also your engine has two oil drain plugs. At the back and another on the drivers side forward.

Mann filters are the best.
Not only that but this is subjective with out flow and filtration proof. I am partial to Green filters myself.
