(W209) CLK55 AMG Advice
Hi Everyone!
I currently own a convertible CLK 280 with AMG package and I am very happy with it except the 7G-Tronic gearbox being very slow when shifting gears even in sport or manual mode
So I have taken the decision to get rid of it and get an upgraded version.
I am planning to buy a 2005 CLK 55 AMG also convertible with 89K on the clock which has full service history according to the garage selling the car.
My question is what do I need to check when buying a CLK55? is there any known problem to the engine or gearbox?
Also, is the gearbox faster than non AMG models? I am assuming YES since it should be an AMG gearbox?

just google common problems on the w209 clk55
a few hoses, valve cover gaskets, trans service
at that mileage probably whatever hasnt been replaced based on the service records will need to be serviced soon

The '05 CLK55 AMG should have the older 5 speed tranny. I'm not sure its going to be any faster than your newer (?) 7 speed.
Make sure the front brakes are ok. If they need to be replaced it is $$$
