Talking two weeks later and I can't smile wide enough

I can't believe how pleased I am with my new CLK55 (W209).

Everytime I put my foot down I laugh out loud.

It's not just because of the acceleration (my last car was an M3) but because of the way it accelerates and the beautiful engine noise it makes in the process.

Plus I get a luxury ride too - the M3 could never offer this.

I miss the M3's handling but I'd never never never swap back.

You've summed it up nicely! Now don't you feel better that you have that off your chest?

mod choices

Although I miss the M3's handling I dont want to make the CLK55 handle like the M3 if I lose any of the ride quality.

I assume the reference to kleeman is for fitting a supercharger. Sounds like offering Lara Croft a boob job - sure they can be even bigger, but why ?

Wider tyres would be needed to put more power down but at what cost ? More road noise ?

I think the AMG stock car is excellent and I am too nervous to hand my baby over to an aftermarket mod garage. The car is designed to be a GT - If I wanted a track car I would have kept the M3.

Happy to compromise,
Paul

lol! Yes i remember that feeling very well. I too was thinking like that why more hp? Why this and that...?? Well (this is at least what happened to me) after driving the car you get tired and bored with the power it has to offer. Even worse when you get to race something that has more juice than you (M5 peeps) and then you don't feel like racing that person just because hes got more HP than you. So then you think i need more hp and that's where the Kleemann comes into play. My only suggestion to you is that if you have not driven a Kleemann 55 car go and do so because it's the same exact car and no noise. The only difference is when you stomp on the gas then that's when you'll realize you're not driving an ordinary 55 but a monster within. Again this is just my personal experience.

Is the warranty on the engine/ecus etc voided when you Kleemannize?
If so I'd stay away from it.

kleemam supercharger

I cant find any info on kleeman for the UK.

What does the BHP/torque increase to ?

How much does it cost including fitting (approx) ?

Did you get to test drive one before you agreed ?

Thanks

Paul

Try these sites. Should give you most of the information you're looking for...

www.kleemann.dk
www.kleemannusa.com

RJC: As far as i know i does not void the warranty.

pnadin: For UK figures i believe it bumps the HP to around 550HP. Check kleemann auth dealer for cost. And yes i test drove a 55 version before getting it.

Hope these answers help you guys.

Thanks for the reply. I would get the info directly from MB in writting that the warranty would not be voided on the engine and related components...I think it would.

Driving around Connecticut with 550 horse would definitely get me killed!! I drive like an A-hole already as it is!! What is the point of all that horse if you aren't going to the track? Take me for example. I'm not going to the track with my CLK55...so for me, stock is good. My car can beat 99% of all the cars I see here on the road. Adding all that horse is just overkill! There's not a lot of times where I get to race people at stoplights...but when I do, even though I'm stock, I still beat them hands down.

I'm not knocking Kleeman....I'm sure they are great, but just not for everyone. For me, I would rather get a nicer radio system for the cost of a supercharger!
