2006 CLK55AMG balance shaft issues?
I am starting my search for my new toy and saw this car: WDBTK76G46T063144
Research suggests it has this engine: 113988 60 055066
I tried researching and some posts say AMGs aren't effected. Others suggest that the latter part of the VIN falls within the range. But not with the "60"
Anyone know?
And any other issues to look for?

You are confusing the m113 engine used in the 5.5 liter amg cars with the m273 engine used in the clk550, E550, etc. it is the m273 that has the idler shaft problems. Two different engine families here, albeit both are 5.5 liter V8. So no such problem on. The clk55.

I would love an E63, test drove a couple but the head bolt, cam and lifter issues just get me everytime. I could replace the lifters and head bolts myself but if the cams are worn, those are not cheap. And if none of that gets you then the airmatic will be waiting for when you least expect it, hopefully at night on a long holiday far away from a MB dealer.

Thank you all. There seems to be a little bit of a glut on the CLKs right now.
Also looking at a 2007 CLK550. Engine #273967 30 120006
This is out of the problem range is it not?

Engine numbers up to 27396x 30 088611 are affected. So assuming that 120006 is correct, you are good to go. The only funny thing is that I thought all '07 model year engines fell within range, and you had to be into early '08. But that could also be my faulty memories...
