Potential new owner CLK63, Engine ticking?

Hi all,

I am considering buying a CLK63, a 56 plate coupe, but after inspection I have a few questions

The engine was tappety and a bit of white smoke came from the exhaust upon start up. The tapping would increase with engine revs. The dealer has had the car for a while now so I know it had been sitting. I was told this was due to the valves having drained of oil and a drive would sort it out. (Video 1) After the test drive all seemed well, but after opening the bonnet I was hearing maybe a knocking noise from the drivers side? From the passenger side it sounded perfect. However on my video it seems you hear it from when my phone is at the top of the engine (Video 2)

The fan kicked in on the test drive, I was giving it some beans but not enough that I would expect the fan to kick in, is this normal?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. The warranty on the car is customer protect which I've not read great things about

Less importantly,

The heated and cooled seats didn't seem very good? I'd go as far as saying I'm not sure they were actually working

What are the optional extras available on this car? As far as I know keyless go and a sunroof were?

Thanks,
James

thicking noise seems to be due to well known vavle buckets issue.
The solution is to replace them by SLS or SLS BS ones

For seats sometimes is is only electrical connection that is not good or cut

Even on the second video thats not how it should sound at idle right? Is it right that it will tick like that on start up if not used for a while, or is that a sign of an issue?

I see you owned a clk63 yourself, do you have any idea of the optional extra list?

This sound show that the valve bucket are used.

For mod on a CLK 63 it depends what you want to to with. Will you track it ?

If yes, brakes need some update (stainless lines, track pads, high temp brake fluid)
For the engine I used to have the Weistec Air Oil Separator

And for the ears, the blip throttle

The seats.....the cool function isn't that great performing, but it does work and will be noticeable on a super hot day with shorts on.

The seat heaters should work very well tho.

Thanks everyone for responses, the search will continue, maybe I will have to test drive a newer C63

Re optional extra's I meant more in terms of factory spec e.g sunroof, tv tuner ect

I normally just do very minimal mods but I dont think an AMG will need any lol
