A209 Fuse 48 Blowing
My 2004 A209 CLK55 stranded me the other day, the engine stopped as i was driving up a slight hill at about 80km/h
The old - would crank and not fire trick
I rolled into a bus stop and got the car towed home -
I found a post on how to replace the CPS in this car - and given my mood at the time - decided against doing it myself.
So towed the car to my indy - who was really busy so took his time to replace the CPS.
He also said he had to replace a fuse - he thought the old cps may have blown the fuse.
Since having the car back - I went for a short drive - no issues, then for a longer one - 60kms - and just as I was pulling in to the car space at my destination - the car stalled - and would not start again.
Not thinking - I just had it towed home.
When I got home - I thought I would check the fuses - found fuse 48 blown - Engine Electronics - replaced it - and car starts fine again... multiple times.
I do not feel confident enough to drive it (not fun having the engine stop in the middle of a highway at speed)
No codes found (I dont have star - just a PLX Kiwi 3) which crashed a few times - so I dont entirely trust it.
I dont think it is a dead short - as the fuse doesnt blow as soon as you start / have the car on.
The car has close to 225,000kms on it now.
Has any one else experienced this issue, and have any hints on what wiring I should be checking? I dont know what is powered by fuse 48 (I cant access EPC on my mac from the mercedes benz club pages - any hints on that too?)
Thanks for your help.
Sam.
