Engine oil leak help!!
When I first purchased the car there was a good amount of oil on the front of the engine/belt etc. I cleaned it all off and there were no issues. I recently had my car at the Mercedes dealership for an oil pan replacement as mine had been cracked. It's been about 800 miles since and oil is now all over the front of the engine all the time. Can seem to find exactly where it's coming from. What could have happened or what could the dealer have done to cause this!!!! Now I had read that the engine has to be lifted to change the oil pan and that some people have been known to raise it by jacking up from the crank shaft pully. Is there a seal in the pully shaft that could have been moved if they had done it that way? What would you do??!! Opinions please. As a tech who is under his hood all the time and you know for the fact that after a repair a huge oil leak/spray has occurred, what exactly would you do?!? Also any info or experience with a new oil leak at the front of the engine after changing the oil pan? Thanks!!!!

I have a 550 and have had a couple oil leaks at the front of the engine. One was the oil filler cap which sent a little oil to the front passenger side but mostly around cylinders 1 and 2. The second was due to the oil filter housing and the oil cooler. Oil would be mostly on the driver side at the front of the engine then it goes everywhere underneath as the air flow catches it. So, it may be unrelated to the oil pan or it's repair.

I try to avoid repair shops where they object to me watching. Almost a third of the time one thing is improperly fixed or another thing is broken when I'm not observing, and sometimes even when I do monitor.
