Warranty for 2008 CLK63 AMG non-engine Coverage Worth It?
So I just got off the phone from American Auto Shield that offers an 'aluminum' package for 4 years/48k. Does NOT cover engine/transmission, but pretty much everything else. Electrical, suspension, coolant, ecm, water and power steering pump...
Since I just got an estimate for repairs at an indy shop (posted in another thread) that got me thinking about some kind of warranty coverage.
Quote was:
$245 downpayment
$249 for 21 months
for a total of $5,474
I have a 2008 CLK63 with 54k on it.
Anyone work with AAS before and are there any known issues with the w209 that would make it worth it?

After discussing it with my indy mechanics, I decided not to get it. No brakes or tires or any normal wear and tear items would be covered. It would cover the power steering pump and some suspension repairs that were recommended. Those cost about $1700 and they told me the electronics don't have any major issues with the w209. Appreciate the insight. If I can find any kind of warranty that covers the engine I'd jump on it. It seems nobody wants their company to touch an AMG engine.

Yes, true, most warranty companies won't cover AMGs because often there are no aftermarket substitutes for parts and we all know how much OE prices are on these cars.
If you did fnd one that covered AMG, it prolly would be very limited in coverage and be very expensive. I had aftermarket coverage on my 500E last century, it paid out pretty well (if you argue with them to cover what they say they would) up to the cost of the plan which was like 4 grand for 5 years...after that , they deny you so really, just keep your money in your bank until you need it for repairs and eliminate these middle entities who just want your monthly payments on time..
Just a few ingnition parts from like an AMG SL600 could eat up about half of the cost of a warranty plan these days !
