Brake light switch

I replaced the brake light switch on my 2002 CLK55 AMG and have a question. The plunger on the new switch is about 1/4 inch shorter than the old one. I read on one web site that these are made for multiple applications and the plunger length can be adjusted with a screw driver. I cannot see how to do any adjustment. I installed the new one and it seems to work fine no more abs, esp and bas warning lights. Do I need to be concerned that the new one is not the same length as the old one?

My ABS, ESP, and BAS lights returned. I removed the brake light switch and the plunger is adjustable, forceful pulling or pushing will adjust the plunger length. I pulled it out to match the length of the original one and it seems to have corrected the problem. See how long the warning lights stay off.

I just did this job on my CLK55 AMG. I have no idea why your plunger was shorter. I did use an OEM part for replacement. It solved the problem. I hope your solution keeps the warning lights in check..

Did the plunger length seem the same on the replacement. My replacement was 1/4th inch shorter when I first installed it and did not correct the problem, I adjusted it to be the same length and seem to have solved the problem.

I did not note the length but did note the mechanism on the new switch was much firmer than the one it replaced.

The one I pulled off the car looks to have been at the max range. I can't recall how the replacement looked, but my brake lights are behaving now.
