2002 CLK 55 AMG Cabriolet
New 2002 CLK 55 owner, need a little info

Hey everyone... just picked up an absolutely cherry 2002 CLK 55 Cabriolet with 66K miles; it looks like it's been kept inside it's whole life, with the occasional visit to the dealership for required service. Everything works, and there's not a squeak or a rattle in it. It's my first Merc and I'm very impressed. There's a couple of things I need to fix, though. Both can be resolved with the same solution.
1. Need to get bluetooth working in the car.
2. Gotta do something about that horrible blind spot when I'm trying to back out of a parking space.
So, going to install a double din head unit with andriod auto and a backup cam. Usually, I go to Crutchfield and get a list of all the parts I need, but they have no research on this model. I've found the Metra bezel I need, and I'm trying to figure out the adapters I need to get everything working. I'm assuming I have just the base stereo, no Bose badges or any others to be found. EDIT: Looks like I have a Bose, saw the badge between the rear seats.

I've been searching and while I'm sure I'll eventually find the answers, if anyone knows off the top of their head what I need or a thread that has the details, I'd appreciate the help.

Nice car and find,
Does the car have navigation or single din head mount?
The Navigation double DIN head has an auxiliary port in the glove box for Bluetooth devices. in car phone call etc.
There are a few options possibly available. Is there a CD changer? I added one to my nav system.
New cheap touchscreen heads are hard to beat but you will loose steering wheel push button control.

Cheers, Gator

Thanks; I think one reason that it's such a tight car is that when it was 6 years old, it went back to Mercedes for the certified pre-owned treatment.

I've got the single din and a CD changer in the trunk. After I bought it, I found that it still has the stock Mercedes branded Motorola flip phone in the cradle inside the arm rest. Thought about getting a SIM card and using it as a car phone.

Found a thread with most of the info I need, but it's dated and not all of the referenced adapters are available anymore. What I can't find is info on how to mount the double din, there doesn't actually seem to be a Metra bezel adapter available.
If I could just get bluetooth up and working on it, I might stop there. Is it possible to install a single din from a newer Mercedes and keep all of the functionality?

Here is a good place to start digging for compatible interface for Mercedes DB2.

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?LH_SA...lo=&rmvSB=true

You can also consider a bluetooth dongle from Mpow that has an FM transmitter. you only need to adjust radio station to pick up in car dongle. I have similar that ties into aux port in glove box.
If you go with an android head the Cd changer will be gone as well. most dont use anymore.
Newer heads have upgraded MOST fiber interface and will not communicate on DB2 bus.

Dennon made a DB2 usb box but they are getting rare.
And lastly would be considering www.ebay.com/item112526086197 DVR with all the toys. I picked up a similar unit with LTE/4G SIM
There is one network supporting the outdated analog phone not sure if they are still in business. The oem phone is a memory now.

Contact Skylaw in the forums, he is the specialist in telematics.
Hope this helps a bit, Gator

Yeah, found his work already. GREAT write-ups, but a bit dated; some of the equipment he used isn't made anymore.
