Is tuning worth the money?

Ok I have asked many people about the supercharger tuning. When I look at the dyno graph, I see a great improvement in power and

torque. But at the same time those superchargers weigh a lot and don't seem to improve the performance a lot such in 0-60 and carry risk

factors for the warranty. Is this correct? Please let me know if I am wrong about this. C32 beat E55 and 'Kleemann superchaged' CLk500 in the drag race, with the same start, C32 beat all of the rest. The kleemann representative said that the SC is for the high speed motoring. But think!!! Even the Stock car can reach 186mph without v-max limiter. It just takes a longer time Well.. See. it doesn't convince me that more power means better performance. If this is the case, where should I spend money to get the better feel and acceleration of the car?

I currently have 2004 CLK55. I just bought Bilstein PSS9 but haven't installed it yet. Has HRE 19inch 8.5F, 9.5 in the rear. Yes I do know these aren't the lightest wheels available. I just like their looks.

What should I do next? Brakes?, or LSD from either Brabus(40% locking) or Kleemann(60%)?. they all seem to add weight to the car a lot.

I am also thinking about exhaust system upgrade from Carlsson but I think that the car will gain weight as much as the hp gain, so they might even out. How about ECU?

I have been thinking what to do more than a month and it is driving me crazy. Maybe I should listen to my friends; "Just get a better car!!"

But I love W209 and I will probably continue to do so. If all these are bad ideas, what can I do to reduce the weight of the car without sacrificing the options of the car? Please let me hear your thoughts.

Thank you.

p.s: sorry for babbling. I was so frustrated.

Re: Is tuning worth the money?

Are you equating peroformance with 0-60 and 1/4 mile times? If you are only concerned about 0-60 and 1/4 mile times, you performance is defintely going to improve, but don't expect to see 1 sec come off your 0-60 and 2 seconds off of your 1/4 mile. Traction, among other things, is definitely going to be a limiting factor. Nevertheless, form a rolling start or at higher speeds, the difference between a SCed 5.5 liter V8 vs. the the non SCed 5.5 liter V8 is night and day. Sure, your car is v-max limted, but that isn't really the point. The extra power is going to get you there a hell of a lot faster. Furthermore, take a C32 and a Kleemann SCed 55 out on the highway and you are really going to see the difference between a SCed v8 and SCed V6.

It really depends on what you want. The performance that SCing your engine is going to give you isn't going to address your desire for improved handling, braking, etc. It is going to give you a huge increase in power, whether all that power can be put to the ground off the line is a different story. It sounds like you want a sports car. You have a great car, just maybe not the right car for you.

you could have panel of the car replaced with carbon fiber pieces...

i think you could do that... not sure... but i dont see why not... but that would be expensive... very expensive...

JLEE81, dont try to change your car too dramatically. if you do, you will have spent so much money that you may realize you should have just gotten a different car.

before you go on replacing panels or anything to save weight, i think it might be more important to remember that balance is also important.

like... if a car is already nose heavy... or doesnt have to much traction off the line... it might not be the best idea to remove the spair tire which might be in the trunk.... know what i mean?

am I right? or am i just talking out of my as$

oh yea... renntech offers something called the "performance rear subframe modification"

im not sure what that is... but its listed under suspension... maybe it somehow reduces weight?
