Hissing noise from engine?

Hey guys there's a pretty clear hiss coming from the engine by the power steering pump/ac compressor, maybe a vacuum line, mot etc? Idk any thoughts to experience?

Installed a new hvac control unit and keep throwing code e61 419 for electro magnetic clutch, research indicates people have issue with compressor/ AC not working etc but my AC is finally going to be blowing cold for the first warm weather as it is now...hopefully.

any thoughts or experience?

There aren't any vacuum lines in that area that I know of (by the PS pump). however, there are multiple coming from the front of the intake manifold, including one that is tricky to get to coming from the bottom that could harden and crack pretty easily.

lol tribotex baby! (maybe) i feel like there is actually a difference in the sound and vibration level of the engine after treatment. Intake manifold is oem new with a little over 7k miles on it, hope its not that. does it sound like a vacuum leak to you?

yes it does. specifically from the two "towers" that come from the front of the intake ports on each side of the intake manifold. those are connected (somehow) to the exhaust and will not hiss until you add some load. (mine are capped off because I dont use them)

Tell me about this Tribotex. My engine has almost the exact same amount of miles as yours and I put it in my SLK without even touching it.

hmm interesting...will have to investigate further... any way you could pinpoint exactly what youre talking about when you say the towers?

are you refering to these diverter valves? https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/mer...mer-0021403660

yeah. those. I had one crack at the gasket surface and caused a hiss, but when I swapped the engine and didn't need them I sealed it up with a block off plate.

before I got it sealed up good, I noticed that it was exhaust pushing out of it instead of vacuum sucking in.
