CLK500 Or CLK63? Black edition track car project
Hey guys.
Time has come for a ZAC COMPOSITES track car. Naturally it will be stripped out with lots of carbon.
My 205 c63s has the 7g transmission with the wet clutch. I have tracked it and although not as good as a sequential it is still good enough.
Brings me to my questions.
The CLK500 can be had real cheap here in Aus. $10k leaving plenty of coin for mods, where a CLK63 is a good $25k but comes with the 6.2, bigger brakes and (potentially) better transmission. I will upgrade suspension, seats, bodykit etc..
Is the torque convertor transmission in the 63 good for track? Does the lockup convertor hold down shifts?
Is the 6.2 that much better engine? Or is it even better at all then the 5l? Keep in mind I will be significantly reducing the weight. I have the engineering team who can convert to a 350z 6 speed, but if I can avoid that I would.
