I bought a CLK55 through an auction that’s about 13 hours away sight unseen, but with a guarantee on it that nothing over $500 needs to be fixed. The auction today told me that there was an engine noise issue in the past with the car and that there might still be. A person went out to look at the car but I didn’t hear anything unusual over the phone and they claimed there wasn’t a noise. Do these cars have any rod bearing or lifter issues or anything of the sort? It might even been the secondary air pump or just a noise on startup as the car has been sitting for a few days. I was curious what all could go on with these or if engine noises were common. The car does have around 160k miles.
