Considering the following purchase: 2005 CLK55 AMG, 120,000 miles. Seller is asking $7.5k, VIN WDBTK76G05T047909. From some emails, he states: "The fabric is is good condition, no holes, but some edges stick out of back glass (just aesthetic in nature). Apparently there are 8 hydraulic pumps for the top. We had 4 replaced, but it is not working again so I’m guessing the other 4 may need to be replaced. There is a tear low on the front fender". Which is unfortunate as the only way the wife will ok this is if the convertible function actually you know...functions. Thoughts on price? I enjoy working on vehicles so I'm thinking I could troubleshoot the top and avoid any crazy expenses. Pictures look clean. I'm in the Denver area. WHAT DO?!
For the edge sticking out of the back glass, that seems be a common issue. I have it on mine too, on the driver's side. No leaking or anything, even with heavy rain.
For the hydraulics, not such good news. One pump and seven cylinders. It won't be cheap.
Thanks for the reply! Maybe that could be ammunition to drive the negotiation. The gentleman has only owned the car for about 1.5 years, and doesn't have anything in the way of historic maintenance records. $7500 seems steep with the vert issues, and "tear in the lower fender"... whatever that means.
