CLK 55 AMG Battery

Hello All

I am looking to replace the battery on my 2004 CLK55 AMG. The car currently has a Bosch S4 battery. The problem that I am having is that the battery is running low after a week or so if I do not use the car. The car starts fine but the instrument cluster is blank until I drive the car for 30 mins or so.

I am not sure if the Bosch S4 type 19 is the right battery for this car. Can someone confirm?

Would be OK for me to purchase a Bosch S5? The spec on the S4 is 800A and 95AH. The S5 is 830A and 100AH.

Thanks!

ya really cant go wrong with the MB battery from the dealer. they work great and last for ever . Also one of the only things you can buy from the dealer that is not over priced.

Thanks insame1 that is good advice. I will give the dealer a call in the morning to see what they want.

Walmart for lead acid batteries or advance if you're replacing an AGM battery. Johnson controls makes like 2/3rds of the OEM batteries and I believe they make Walmarts too. This stuff is like Katchup sorry to say....just pick your label!

thanks for the advice. I am in the UK and I got a price from the dealer of around £280’s which seems a bit steep as they only offer a 2 year warranty.

I can get the Bosch s5 for £150’s with a 5 year warranty. I will try another MB dealer tomorrow and look into AGM batteries

Update:

The dealer made a mistake when he quoted me £280, this was for a AGM battery. The price for the battery for my car is £160’s is which is reasonable.,,
