PO335 + Check Engine. Now no Check Engine. Should I change CPS?

Hello,

I've been reading through these forms but my situation is a bit unique. My 2002 CLK55 with 128K stalled about 10 days ago while driving. Took multiple tries to get it started and it did. I was only 3 minutes from home and got home fine. I checked the code and got PO335 - Crankshaft Position Sensor. I ordered a Bosch replacement off Amazon for $30 and was going to swap. I started it once several days after this happened and check engine light was on but car ran fine. I did not drive it. Today I was going to swap the CPS so I started it up and check engine light is gone. Drove it for 5 minutes and all is fine. Wondering if it is something else or if folks would recommend just replacing the CPS? I have had this car since 2008 when I got it with 53K and I don't recall ever changing it. Probably time but who knows. Can the CPS come back to life which is a sing that it is failing?

I am thinking of just swapping to be safe.

thanks!

I'd change it just to be safe. You don't want to get stranded. They typically fail when the motor is warmed up, not when cold.

Thanks. Yea I changed it this AM. Too about 20 minutes. I also looked back at discovered I replaced this back in 2011 myself. Simple repair.
