PO335 + Check Engine. Now no Check Engine. Should I change CPS?

I've been reading through these forms but my situation is a bit unique. My 2002 CLK55 with 128K stalled about 10 days ago while driving. Took multiple tries to get it started and it did. I was only 3 minutes from home and got home fine. I checked the code and got PO335 - Crankshaft Position Sensor. I ordered a Bosch replacement off Amazon for $30 and was going to swap. I started it once several days after this happened and check engine light was on but car ran fine. I did not drive it. Today I was going to swap the CPS so I started it up and check engine light is gone. Drove it for 5 minutes and all is fine. Wondering if it is something else or if folks would recommend just replacing the CPS? I have had this car since 2008 when I got it with 53K and I don't recall ever changing it. Probably time but who knows. Can the CPS come back to life which is a sing that it is failing?
I am thinking of just swapping to be safe.
thanks!
