New 19" rims/tires affect COMAND GPS?

I just had my new 19" staggered wheels and tires put on my car yesterday. I have the COMAND Navigation System, and I was wondering if the new tire setup will affect my GPS routing. Does anyone know?

I went with recommended 235/35-19 front and 265/30-19 rear...

Thanks

No its not a joke and its actually a very good question. I think the comand uses the wheel/tire size to calibrate itself. I think I remember seeing a menu in the comand that asks you to punch in your tire size.

Allright, here is some clarification and AMIL, no its not a joke...

The way I understand it from Mercedes-Benz is that the COMAND GPS routing estimates the distances, etc. based on the rolling diameter of the tires.

Now, here are the figures...

STOCK FRONT 225/45-17
Overall Diameter: 24.97"
Radius: 12.48"
Circumference: 78.44"
Revs per Mile: 832.9

CUSTOM FRONT 235/35-19
Overall Diameter: 25.47"
Radius: 12.73"
Circumference: 80.01"
Revs per Mile: 816.6

STOCK REAR 245/40-17
Overall Diameter: 24.71"
Radius: 12.35"
Circumference: 77.62"
Revs per Mile: 841.7

CUSTOM REAR 265/30-19
Overall Diameter: 25.25"
Radius: 12.62"
Circumference: 79.32"
Revs per Mile: 823.7

So in analyzing these numbers, its obvious that the rolling diameters are different for each tire (Front or Rear). So, I am assuming there is some way to re-calibrate COMAND so you dont end up passing your street before the lady shouts "turn next left now."

Just put on the staggered 19" ASA ST4 in chrome with Pirelli PZero Nero 235/35-19f and 265/30-19r. The laurel leaf mercedes center caps look sharp. Got so many compliments on the wheels at the dealer. Will post pics in a new thread tonight, at work at the moment...

it has nothing to do with floating my boat. CLK55AMGBENZ asked a serious question and you had absolutely nothing useful to say to help him. he asked a very intelligent question that anyone with half a brain might think about. i guess you dont. i never once said in a reply that it matters or that its a problem, i just thought that the comand works off the wheel/tire size and CLK55AMGBENZ just confirmed that with his post. we are here to help eachother and get ideas and share experiences, dont be a di*k

Yes, the difference in tire will affect your COMAND. However, after driving a while, the COMAND will recalibrate itself for your new tire diameter. There is a calibration procedure to put the tire size into the configuration, but this is just a "hint" for the COMAND to get started. After a while it compares the tire rotation against the GPS positioning and comes up with its own value to use for tire diameter.
