CLK55 AMG W208 - front dampers

Hello everyone,

I currently have an issue that I have been unable to solve for several months ==> my front dampers have a small leak, and I want to change them with new ones. the damping parameters are correct, but it is not acceptable from the Technical Control that we have every 2 years in France.

But, I am not able to find a reference which fits my car, as all parts retailers send me back wrong references (eg TRW JGT399T, which are too short...) ; I guess that they will fit non-AMG W208, but not my CLK55.

==> do you know how to find genuine front dampers, or dampers that will fit my car ? The ones I have are Bilstein but there is no reference written on them....

thanks for your help !

C43 AMG with a tune up
Bilstain made special dampers for AMG cars, you can't buy these as aftermarket only at dealership.

If you go aftermarket with Bilstain, they have sport dampers but not made specifically just for AMG cars it's sold as a generic sports damper for lowered cars.

So a bilstein B6 ref 24-025980 will fit my car without changing anything else you think ?

You have to check Bilstein parts list to see if the parts number is suitable for your car?

If you have lowering springs the shorter shock will fit.
Stock factory (tall) springs paired with shorter shocks will screw up your ride and will also faster wear out shocks.
What set up do you u have?

Best thing is to go to your local auto parts store and ask for correct shocks matching your springs ride height.

W209 CLK55 - 2003
For the W209, Sachs lists parts on their online catalogue. The ideal AMG replacement appears to be no longer available but they do list alternatives.
