02 CLK55 Convert top rattling

02 CLK55 Convert top rattling
Hi folks. My 02 CLK55 Convertible top started rattling a lot even on fairly smooth roads. I thought it was something in the dashboard but my son who has a couple o Miatas told me it was the top. And he was right.
While driving I pushed the top up and the rattling kind of stopped.
My question is to the CLK Convertible owners out there: Is there some kind of adjustment that can me made to "tighten" or stop the rattling at the front?

Have you tried to manually tighten the front soft top lock? You can do this with a allen key. I have heard of this rattling before but nothing else. If you try this by tightening with allen key and if it stops the rattle them most the most likely issue would point to the hydraulic cylinder which may be getting weak.
WIS for the lock cylinder is attached if required.

Hi, just a follow up.
I tried to tighten the alan bolts of the top but they were already pretty tight. What seems loose was the latches on the top of the windshield area where the top latches on. Both sides were loose. I have no idea if they are supposed to be that way or if there is a way to tighten those latches. I did not see any way to do this.
Anyone knows?

MB’s of all kinds.
Check and see to make sure everything is bolted down. Then use Krytox to try and lubricate the soft top seals. That is about the best you can do. Soft tops rattle in these cars. One of the reason why I dumped my 04.
