CLK63 Coupe - Dual Midpipes Installed

Hello everyone

I own a 2006 CLK63 Coupe (Non-Black series). I was always disappointed with the way the car sounded stock, compared to a C63 W204. It was too quiet.

The first mod I did on the exhaust was the secondary cat and resonator delete. This sounded much better but still not loud enough for me.

After doing some research I found out that the car had a single pipe midpipe due to limited space, which is the reason why it didn't or couldn't sound like the other 63's, all of which were running dual midpipes from the factory. The limited space was not going to stop me from trying to get in the dual midpipes.

After much deliberation, I approached one of the best local exhaust shops to see if they would be able to somehow fit it dual midpipes. After doing a mock up, they said that dual 63mm midpipes would work in the limited space. Everything worked out and they managed to pull it off! Below are some pics of the exhaust setup. I have also put some video links below for some sound clips.

The car sounds absolutely amazing now, super happy! It roars at high rpm and the upshifts sound so violent in Sport/Manual mode.

I hope this can help fellow members who have wanted to do this. It's definitely worth it!

This is exactly what I want to do to my c55. How much did it cost?

Any gain in power?

The midpipes cost me 4000 South African Rands, which is equivalent to +/- U$ 240. The car does feel like it pulls a bit better now, so I'd say a small increase in power. It was worth it for the sound only!
