W208 with M137 V12 and 6-speed manual swap
The convertible is a 2002 CLK55 AMG with only 68k miles on it, so the black coupe will be donating all the parts necessary to get the vert to pristine…. It helps that I manage a car dealership that has a 4-lift garage and a body complete with paint booth….
Should probably mention that the coupe was shamelessly upbadged by the previous owner and is just a CLK430 with a blown transmission and a ragged out interior… But the 4.3L M113 under the hood runs strong and will likely end up in another project car if I don’t just sell it…
I believe something wild is in order for the coupe, and at the moment my thought process is leading me towards grafting on the front clip of a 2002ish CL600, complete with swapping over the M137 V12 and all, getting equal length headers and straight piping it to make it sound like a Pagani, going widebody, gutted interior, and of course, something in the way of a Getrag/Tremec/ZF 6-speed manual conversion (can’t say which one for sure right now because I confess I need to do more research)
I think building a W208/215 hybrid monster is a great idea, not because I’m trying to race/compete or show it or even go fast, but because it’d be absolutely preposterous, and just plain fun to own too! Anybody have any thoughts on this?
We have similar interest, I'll be fitting a m137 + 6spd manual in my w108. We should link up and trade ideas and knowledge.
I'll be running a stock Mercedes 6spd manual from a v6 Mercedes as they bolt up directly to the v12 and v8 engines.
