Gear Ratios

Hey all! I was reading the article on the new C55 in this month's Road and Track and noticed that the new C55 has a 3.07 ratio rear-end. Our W208 cars have a 2.82. It looks like the transmission ratios are the same. It seems that the rear end change helped the C55. However, I recall reading a few posts on this board indicating that changing the rear end ratio really doesn't help the W208 CLK55 because of traction issues and because the car actually runs out of its power band more quickly in each gear. What is the general consensus? What if you installed a 3.07 rear with 18s to help with traction? Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Hey Chappy,

Where do you get a LSD for a 208?

Good question. Try contacting Evosport, Kleemann, RENNTech, or Brabus.
