Buyer's Of 2005 Clk55 Beware!!!
I posted pictures of my pewter 2005 clk55 a few weeks ago at a time I was very satisified with the car. Last week my wife noticed that the passenger side seat did not have the multi contour feature as advertised (see below). I called my new dealer, Mercedes of Miami to tell him this and he gave me the normal bad salesmen bs, plus said he would check into it and call me back which he has not. So today I called MB customer service and was told what is offered and written on the MB web-site is not the final deal, and that the dealer orders the car and it comes as is. Weather the web site states its a feature, not option, it does not matter, call your dealer I have nothing else to say. The nice guy hung up on me as well! My 2004 has the dual multi contour on the passenger side. Mercedes offers the 2005 with the same feature but is not held responsible for the information on the web-site. WOW!! This is scary, and my next purchase most likely won't be a Mercedes of any type!

Your right Harris, but the shape of our passanger seat is not the same as the driver side?? How could they install the equipment?
or
Do you mean replace the whole seat? Because thats what I'm after!

As far as I know, the mutli-contour seats are just a few switches and a few pumps. I am not sure what do you mean by the passenger seats being not the same as the drivers seat?! Do they look totally different???? Or maybe as you said, just make them change the whole seat!!

..it sounds like they "swapped" it out of the car and put in another before it was bought. i used to work at a new car dealer and that happens all the time. they usually put the "wrong" part back in temporarily until they get one in to replace it. fight it!!

Take a look at their web site if you didn't already. Its so wrong, false advertisement! If you have time call your dealer, call MB customer service. I would love for all of us from the W208, to the 2002 to 2004, and 2005 W209 CLK55's to be concerned. For that matter all Mercedes owners and future buyers!
Thanks
I'm going to continue to fight this as well!

Mark,
I agree with you the website does clearly state what you are peeved about. But isn't it pretty common for the driver only to have all the goodie features stuck in their seat?

MB & BMW
Hey Mark4,
I have a 2004 CLK55. I have both drivers and passenger seats with
lumbar support. I ordered the 2005 clk55 and will be here next week.
I'll check and see if that comes with dual lumbar supports or just for the drivers.
Thanks for the notice!

Yes multi-contour is the 2 lumbar, thigh-up and down, and the one that hugs the back, total of 4 switches. Again seems like MB is skimming for something that should always be standard if it was the 2 or 3 years prior. Especially if it says the 2005 comes with it standard on their web-site! They should consider a recall? It seems like a few others have had the same expirence as I have.

Guys, wake up...
Have you not heard or noticed that many features are being dropped or left out for 05? These are your friends at DC/MBUSA doing what they do best, making more money and offering less value (see: no more prepaid service, etc.). You can also be sure that there is a disclaimer somewhere that says "Certain feaures or functions not available in all markets. MBUSA reserves the right to change certain features and functions without notice...etc etc." Not saying it's right, just saying it's the world we live in. Oh, if you think DC MBUSA cares, then I've got a bridge I need to sell you.

I hear you! But we have to make our voices heard! There are a ton of voices to be heard on this forum alone! Even just this thread. I hope all buyers beware, and concentrating on the 2005 CLK55 not having the Mulit-Contour passenger seat while 2004, etc.. does, and is advertised on their web-site as having it is a start for me. My wife got a group of people together 10 years ago in a class action law suit against Ford, it took a few years but they all recived thier money back for the repairs they had to pay for which for, and lawyers fee's! I know the Firm well, they are scary, and we as a group of Mercedes Benz loyal customers should work together and fight this! Better many then one! Seems to me at this point most of us 2005 CLK55 buyers are not getting our cars with the correct passenger seat. Its a place to start?

Uh, seeing as how I'm...
an attorney by trade (and one who holds a Dealer license in our State), I gotta say that one looks pretty tough. It' s a long way from having to make a necessary repair (suitability argument) to getting your passenger seat to do the same lumbar dance as your driver's seat. It'd be different if you couldn't sit in it. Also gonna be a bit tough to find some judge sympathetic to people who didn't get the special seat they desired in their $70k car....In any event, good luck, but methinks you might want to concentrate on something else...

I finally talked to the sales manager at Mercedes of Miami and here is the deal. Mercedes changed the wording on their web site (I checked before I spoke with him) describing the drivers seat only to have the multi contour seat with lumbar, etc.. Mercedes customer service sent me a blue picknick blanket, and I have come to terms that fighting this issue at this point in time is not worth while. So hopefully if nothing else I opened some eye's including mine on our forum to becareful, and go over everything with a dealer that Mercedes is claiming to offer on their web site before a purchace. As well I feel very strong in my case that the Mercedes salesmen I have delt with are WAY under educated! Or just don't care enough to be. But the car is awsem, and I love it! I am always happy when I step on it, take a sharp turn, or burn out, the car reacts like nothing I have ever driven!
Thanks for all the response and views!
