My car has recently become nearly undriveable due to codes P0720 Output Speed Sensor Circuit and P0600 Serial Communication Link. The trans goes into limp mode and won't shift from second gear, the speedometer drops to zero and I get "Brake wear visit workshop" and "Display malfunction visit workshop" as well as an ABS light on my dash. If I shut the engine off and restart, it will USUALLY clear and I can drive a short way until it comes up again.

Where do I start? Should I be looking at the speed sensors, the ABS module, or maybe a transmission conductor plate?

Question if I may? Did this happen randomly or have you done something to your wheels or tires lately?
If random, then I would personally start with the wheel speed sensor first.

The only thing I've done recently was replace a fouled pug on #6 and rear brake pads. I had driven it about 2-300 miles since then before it started acting up.

It did this same thing a couple of months back prior to that work but only once.

I *think* I have it sorted. I reseated the plug wires (#6 had them reversed if this matters) and cleaned the ground next to the ABS module. I've driven it about 15 miles and so far it's behaving.

I'll update the thread if that didn't fix it and do a more comprehensive scan with STAR or at least my MB 2.0 scanner.
