2009 CLK 550

I'm looking at a vehicle that shows badging on the trunk of CLK 550 AMG. I've been doing my best to search the good old interweb but my search skills are somewhat limited I guess. I can't seem to find out if Mercedes actually made a CLK 550 AMG in '09. I'm finding an AMG 63 and I'm also seeing references to a 55 but I can't seem to locate any information on a CLK 550 AMG. If anyone out there can shed some light on this I would greatly appreciate it. I have the VIN and ran it but no reference to AMG is found anywhere in the history of the VIN.

Hi Joe,

I'm guessing someone stuck an AMG badge on the trunk for some reason. I posted the same question on the AMG forum and that's what came back as the answer.

Hi Ahmed,
Thank you for the info. So, like the other replies, it looks like someone stuck an "AMG" badge on the trunk and this car is just a CLK 550.

It appears that sticking an "AMG" badge on the trunk of a non-AMG car is a big thing in the Mercedes Benz world. I'm finding all kinds of cars that are listed as "AMG" cars with photos of the trunk with the badge that, according to the list Ahmed posted, can't possibly be AMG cars. I even went to the site that list is on and looked at other models, SLKs and found the same thing. Looks like a lot of people trying to pass off cars as something they're not. Sort of makes me want to think about other brands of cars with less scams.
