Rear view mirror fell down

Rear view mirror fell down
2007 CLK 550 convertible. While driving on a bumpy road the rear view mirror just fell down. It appears to have been put on by an adhesive. Has this happened to anyone? How do I fix this? Thanks for any help.

They are normally held in with a stuff spring that has conical metal pieces on either side to just pop it in or out. If it's held in with adhesive, someone probably broke it at some point. They're not very expensive to get one from eBay ($20-25).
You'll have to remove the overhead light lens first, then pull back a couple of clips inside there to drop the overhead console so you can properly unplug it and plug the new one in.
