Wheel/tire fitment question (cross-posted to general CLK forum)
Hey all, I have a 2004 CLK55 Cabriolet. My front passenger side rim is cracked. The wheels are aftermarket (on the car when I bought it) and I’m not crazy about them so I’d like to do something OE.
Current wheels:
Front: 19x8.5; 32mm offset; tires are 235/35R19
Rear: 19x9.5; 35 or 36. I think 35 but it was hard to read; tires are 265/30R19
No spacers and no rubbing that I notice. I believe stock suspension/ride height.
I’m considering the following MB wheels:
Front: 7.5 x 18" ET37; I’d like to do 235/40R18
Rear: 8.5 x 18" ET34; I’d like to do 265/35R18. These sizes would keep both front and rear tires the same width and current and pretty much the same total diameter.
Do y’all think I’d have issues with these? What if I added spacers? I saw that 10mm spacers are preferred.
I’d also like to lower the car a bit. Nothing crazy but a bit more aggressive. How would lowering the car affect fitment.
Thank you for any responses!
