Tire Size Question

Hey all. I just picked up a set of 18x8 / 18x9 Aero IIs from an '01 E55 for my '01 CLK55. I am running H&Rs with #2 pads up front and #3 pads out back with my factory 17s. Just about 1 pinky's width gap all the way around each wheel well.

I have read that 225/40/18 front and 255/35/18 rear is the ONLY size I can run on my car without rubbing. Is there absolutely no way that 235/40/18 and 265/35/18 would clear? The reason I ask is that it is virtually impossible to find a good all season tire in the recommended 225/40 and 255/35 size. The only decent all season tire I can find in that size is the Pirelli P Zero Nero M&S and it is literally sold out and on back order nationwide. If I could wedge a bit bigger tire in there, I would have many other options available.

Any help greatly appreciated!

I think Improviz has 18" Mono 2s with 265 rubber in the back.
