CLK63 Black at POCONO AMG Grad Event

On Thursday I went to the AMG Grad event an all day event at POCONO. I drove the Black there and it has just turned 1000 miles. (i lasted waiting thru the required brake-in period..
) And I averaged 19 mpg going and then 20+ mpg driving home.
I'll set the Stage:
(3) 1-red, 1-silver & 1-white CLK63 Blacks are on hand for us to drive. These cars had less then 200 miles on them... remember that as you read the following report.
The extent of the CLK63 Black driving they let us do entailed starting in a boxed area and when a horn sounded accelerating about 800 then stopping within a boxed area about 30' long. Then making a sharp left turn & stopping in another box, then accelerate another 800' and stopping in another box that timed the total time from start to finish. (2) cars did this at the same time heading in opposite directions and the one that finished first in the last box, with no points deducted for a non-complete stop in any box won and moved on to the finals. (not really what I was expecting to do in the Black at POCONO)
We never got the cars much over 80 mph and they had people with an infrared temperature gun checking the front rotors for the heat buildup..! When the rotors got too hot the instructors would drive the cars a few easy miles to cool them down. (they also ran this event with the CLK63 Convertibles and never checked the rotor temps)
Quite a few of us noticed how the Black's bogged alot when smashing the gas peddle down. And we all felt it was much more noticable... then just pulling some timing away for wheel spin. I personally have experenced the same thing with my Black.. more then once when accelerating up an on-ramp to inter-state speeds.
The Event:
The event was well planned and I was impressed with the people running the event and the Mercedes management on-hand to talk with and answer my many questions. Mr Rob Allen is my new reason to buy AMG products. If you ever get the chance to meet him... you'll right away know, why I make that statement.
In closing my only small negative was the lack of more on-track driving. But that's just me, as others I observered had one of the best days of their life during the event.
I'll be going back to POCONO during October to work a BMW 2-day event and see which BMW is the equal of the CLK63 Black. (report to follow)
