Wow! Don't drive the 63 Black unless ...
If anything, driving it in traffic is very frustrating because it is so easy and fun to drive the car fast but everyone around is going like 10-20mph
That being said, it is as fun or more fun than anything out there, so I just deal with it.

I use mine as a daily driver now. It's fun but if I just want a relaxing commute I'll drive my Cayenne.
On top of that it really isn't much fun in a full automatic setting. You have to tap into the power band for the full experience.

I had a chance to test drive one today and I can't believe what a monster it is. The car is so precise that you think, "No bleeping way is this a Mercedes."
The acceleration is exceptional but that's not what grabs you. The car is just built tight that you notice it before getting out of the parking lot. It's not a bit of exaggeration to say that you (at least I did) notice how connected the whole car is to your body before you hit 10 miles per hour.
When you get out on the road, the ride feels smooth and you can hear the power just waiting to explode. I drove down the street to the highway and didn't get a sense of the precision the car offers until accelerating down the on ramp. I was probably doing 80 when I started to take the first lane to my left, bear in mind that I drive a CL55 that's modded, so the torque and speed felt from 20 to 80 was nothing unusual. Then I started to take that lane and the CLK almost leaped across the highway! I was absolutely startled that the car responded so quickly. From that moment forward the car did nothing but sell itself. After settling at cruise of 70, I popped down 2 gears and hit 100+ with no drama at all. I commented to the sales guy, "that was a hundred" and he was visibly shocked. Did I mention that he sells Porsches and this was his first ride in the CLK?
From there we cruised a bit more until I got off the highway and hit a few corners, nose in, perfect follow through and great pick up coming out - the car was incredible. It wasn't a track technical turn but it was a good deal more crisp than my 996TT.
Then I pulled into an empty parking lot for a brake test and started at one end of the short side aiming at the curb on the other side at full throttle. I waited and waited until I saw the sales guy flinch, then paused an extra second and nailed the brakes. I stopped embarrassingly short of the curb. I thought it would be close but I had to be 20' short.
From there I encouraged the sales guy to take a turn and he was actually grateful to get behind the wheel. All I should say about his drive is that he was just flat out impressed.
I was really there (having already driven a Cayenne) as a screener for my wife and after getting back to the dealership I couldn't really focus on talking about the Cayenne deal because my mind was still back in the 63. It was just like chuck z said, "I can't wipe the smile off my face."
Now the lust has been kindled and I won't be happy until I scratch that itch. It's gonna' take a few months, but I've just gotta' have one.
For you guys that have the car already, congratulations on being so darn smart to buy it early. For you guys that don't have one, don't drive one until you're ready to buy!
Nice write up. I saw that car today and was thinking about buying it, until I read how you thrashed on it.
j/k. I'm sure the car took it well. lol. It is bad a$$, but I will need a silver one.

Harshness in suspension is generally the result of shock setting. This can be easily dialed out with the KW adjustable suspension. I've found that inhancing the performance upgrades generally sacrifices some comfort. My goal is to improve the car without crossing the invisble line.
Origin unknown ... at least to me.
He had just driven the CLK Black and he raved about it.
He couldn't believe how tight it was and how it drove.
He said, "I just bought that (pointing to the GT2) and now I feel like really gotta' have one of these." (I'm certain he intended to have both, not sacrificing the GT2 for the CLK.)
There was another guy there who drove a 996TT and I got the feeling he was tipping toward the CLK after driving it.
Both guys were shocked by the precision of the car.
As word gets out, I wonder if this one won't buck the AMG depreciation dive.

This car is incredible. I've let a few people drive it and they're shocked at how good it is.
Tomorrow I get to detail it.

Thanks , I am very happy to welcome you to team 63, hehe. The Black Series CLK truly must be amazing to win you over. I bet you become a road warrior , its gonna cost ya. LOL
I really am very happy for you and also a bit JEALOUS!!!!!!!!!!1
They truly are fun cars. I think we all share the secret pleasure of hearing the sounds it makes when we press "Start".
By the way, Iridium Silver doesn't take much time to detail
(tough to see any difference, as long as it is reasonably clean)
. . . gives you much more time for actually driving!

Happy Trails!
