Personally, I think most owners will have more car than ability in a CLK 63 Black Series as it comes from the factory.

Just click on the 2nd Sticky in this section. Those are the mods that I had done to my car by Evosport. I am very happy with the quality of work and overall performance gains. I believe VRP and Renntech are offering similar products now as well. Just about everything is availble that is availble for other cars...ECU, headers, full exhaust, pulleys, intakes...you name it, they offer it or can make it for you if they don't.
My car makes 502 at the wheels, about 25 of which can be attributed to the light weight Dymag wheels, so you can expect in the neighborhood of 476 +/- with the same mods minus the Dymag wheels which is a 58whp gain over my stock baseline output of 419...and there is more to be had with the ECU tuning.

I have to say this is one of the best factory out of the box performance packages I have ever seen/driven. Loads of power, great suspension, forged wheels, great looks and stance. Not to mention it sounds like a race car. I know folks always have to have more and that's great but I think most people (including me?) would run out of talent b/f they reach this cars full potential.

Isn't the new 2009 SL 63 Black Series going to be a turbo or twin turbo? That's what I am hearing and reading anyway.

Yes, it is lowered. It was lowered with H&R Springs and I lowered the factory coilovers slightly more than stock. Not sure of the exact amount it is lowered but I would guess, 1.5-2.0 inches, and it can run lower, however it is just not realistic for street use. The factory wheels are 19" so that really doe snot factor in, however I am running an 11"wide rear with 305/30/19 tires. there are no clearence issues, the factory widebody has no problem accomidating the wheels and tires.

Check Out the AMG SL Forum. Edmunds did a write up on the SL Black Series. It appears it is going to based on the SL 65. They are quoting shaving over 500lbs off the car. A SL 63 black series would have been my choice. New trans, 500lbs weight savings, etc.... That would be a great car!! Hope they make black SL 63.
