I have a valentine 1 and in my opinion it is the best out there. A bit expensive but cheaper than any speeding ticket / insurance premium hike. I should mention that I do not know much about the escort. Good luck.

Have had the V1 in many cars and love it. Used to have the Passport 8500 but the arrows on the V1 are awesome! Regarding hardwiring where are you guys taping a power wire from? Overhead console or the fuse box? Thanks.

Aside from their lack of directional arrows, both the new Bel STI-R and the Passport 9500ci out perform the V1 in terms of sensitivity and range. However, the ZR4 laser "shifters" (jammers) included with the 9500ci are no better than the previous generation (ZR3) jammers. If your needs do not require the GPS ability of the 9500ci, I would strongly suggest you take a look at combining the radar ability of the Bel STI-R with the superb laser jamming ability of the the LI (A pricey but effective and far superior diode type jammer).
