Anybody know how to hardwire a V1 to the roof light assembly??

Greetings to All,

I posted on the general CLK forum to see if anybody had provided a DIY for hardwiring a radar detector to the roof lighting assembly at the top of the windshield.

Somebody gave me a link to a DIY, but unfortunately the lighting assembly in the CLK illustrated is significantly different than on the BS.

So the bottom line is does anybody know which wire in the lighting assembly is tied to the ignition key so it only pulls power when the car is on??? My plan is to tap splice into the wire, just like I have done with other cars.

I also tried the spare fuses on the side panel in the door jam, but they were all constantly on (i.e. not tied to the key).

Thanks in advance for any pointers!!!!

Hey Rob,
I think you can tie into the vanity light. Is it a V1? Oh, just read the rest of the post. Check the SL63 forum, I beleive somebody did it there. BTW, congratulation on the BS.
