Autoweek claims no CLK Black follow-up

I can't find the article online, but in the latest Autoweek there was a blurb in the news section that mentioned that the new CLK will not have an AMG version and consequently not a Black version either.

While resale values aren't that great anyway, I guess this helps a little bit to know that another more powerful version with all the latest gearbox updates is not around the corner.

I've read about that too and that was part of the reason why I pulled the trigger on a white one yesterday.

Aside from the SLR and the SL65 BS, I don't see the CLK63 BS getting "outstyled" anytime soon by any new MB model (or any other car under $150K for that matter). So maybe it will hold it's value better if and when consumer confidence begins to improve.

But I think color plays a significant role too. I could have gotten a slightly used silver one for FAR less than the 98K that I paid. But to me, white was worth the premium...

I think that the article you referred to actually came from Autocar in the UK, not Autoweek. And, depending on how one reads the article, I think it may have contained some confusing information.

Obviously there is not going to be another CLK because Mercedes-Benz is no longer producing the CLK model. It has now been replaced by by the new E Series Coupe. If you go to the international mercedes-amg website, you will see that they do have a new 2010 E63 Mercedes-AMG Coupe in their model lineup. Note: this vehicle does not show up if you go to the Mercedes-AMG US site, however. Use this link and select English (for your language - unless, of course, you prefer German). http://www.mercedes-amg.com/ Then go to "AMG Optional Extras" and select "E-Class Coupe". http://www.mercedes-amg.com/#/amg-e-class. You will then see a listing for the new E-Class Coupe with an AMG Sports Package (Code 950) that includes suspension, brakes, steering wheel, plus interior appointments, wheels, and body trim.

I believe it is unlikely there will be a similar model for a long while. With the current state of the economy, the focus on fuel efficiency, and a shifting sense of social priorities (simplicity over exclusivity), the risks will outweigh the rewards. I think we have a "keeper". That isn't the same as saying the values will rise, as there may be no appreciating automotive assets. AS

There will definately NO CLK (now E Class Coupe) AMG version or even a BS version. The top model will be a E-Klasse Coupe 500 (388hp)

I know a guy at Mercedes AMG in Afalterbach and he told me.

He also told me that there may be a C63 AMG "Black Series light" with 525hp, carbon exterior and ceramic brake discs.
