Ok so last night i went and picked up the block. The sleeves came out perfect as expected. This block is honestly very stout now and should easily handle the power, and not to mention its very light too. here are some pics of the finished product. All i need to do now is finish hone it to the piston size and possibly line hone her and shes ready to rock and roll.
What are your plans for the heads and camshafts?
#77
The transmission is still in the air. As for heads and cam the heads are being completely ported and bowls cleaned up and such i am keeping the stock valves because they are really nice. We are just doing a nice valve job on them. I am also putting stiffer springs for the added boost and to rev it a little higher. The cams im still debating on. Im worried tuning it will be hard but cams are a very easy swap even with the motor in the car. I know it would add a lot of power and rpm but its a toss up

This is a damned cool thread! & good luck to you man. Not to mention Engine mods started a scant month ago on
Project started life as a base CLK350, then Modded w/full CLK63 BS body/interior mods, & @
are nearly ready for Turbo's! I can't help but compare this to the torturous failed 1,000 HP threads that started some 2 1/2 yrs ago, & never got close w/member "Newtothis" SL65 project, & now finally our well respected, good natured member "Havoc" is seeing his bored 5.4 to 5.7 project finally nearing final assembly after 1 1/2 years & counting (ALL this time just in engine mods, forget full CLK BS transformation)
Sorry I had to say this, I just think it's deplorable these other 1,000 HP projects have taken 2 1/2 yrs & failed miserably, SL65 w/VRP825 pack+ /Ported heads/cam etc final post dyno = 605-610 rwhp (RENNtech's 65 models w/CAI-box/tune match these #'s) these other projects continue to languish w/price tags = to krazzee custom work from Top tuners such as RENNtech/Kleemann etc...
Hat's off to you bud!

Thanks for the props man. The difference is the fact that I'm doing it myself and not a shop. Also remember the m156 motor is a totally different breed and there is no info available on it. Believe it or not the 55 and 600/65 motor specs have been done by big after market companies and they have piston head rod specs to make right away. Props to havoc for building a motor and going through with it. Anyways this motor will be super nice and I hope all the technical things that I am posting will help the next person that wants to do this.

I was under the impression the VRP825 package puts out near 700 to the wheels, as stated by Marko in his sig?

Yes you're correct, though the VRP825 results have been achieved w/100-105 octane tunes, "Newtothis" had 93 tune, but that still doesn't excuse missing power from extra mods "Ported Heads/Cams"

As expected, i received a call from Ross pistons with great news. The pistons look great. I made the top ring land much larger for boost, and the i lowered the valve pockets a tad just in case i want to add some duration or lift to the cams. I also got their strongest wrist pin which is a .927 tapered H13 aircraft steel. I also got the cc on the chamber of the head and measured gasket thickness to get exact compression, and lowered the new pistons to 9.5:1. anyways here are some pics. enjoy.

CLK63 Black Series
Those new pistons look very impressive.
Just a couple of questions.
1. How does the total weight of the new piston, pin, and ring assembly compare with the original stock items?
2. Do you have any plans to apply any sort of anti-scuffing protection to the skirts of the new pistons?

This looks like quite the cool project. Hopefully, there are chassis reinforcements, monster brakes, revised engine management, etc, etc, etc in the works as well.
I am always about developing a 'balanced package', where no one element overwhelms the driving experience. For me, that is what driving is about. This has the potential to be a very impressive car. Best of luck...

As far as coating the pistons, I've had a lot of experience with and with out coating, and it really doesnt do anything. The teflon coating on the side of the piston, is only for initial start up. The pistons obviously weigh a little more but not much. They have a lot more meat at the deck of the piston and the oval forging design we drew up is similar to what they use on a high boost engine... like a funny car. As far as tuning i plan on using the stock 63 computer to run everything except the spark and fuel. I'm also putting a 6 point cage with swing outs in the car and some subframe connectors. Its good for 10.00 nhra, and im sure it will stiffen up the chassis quite a bit.

Once it is done , maybe you can put the engine in my car at the track so I can reclaim my record ! WOW man hats off I really really hope you find great success

Haha maybe you'll be the next twin turbo 63. The bigger bodies have a lot of room for turbos. Pull the motor and I'll build it.... Wait let me finish. There seems to be a curse on this forum with "1000hp" builds. I'm probably gonna fail miserably.....jk
The best and easiest way to make power is n2o and a built motor revving to 8500rpm.
