so here are the updates. Pistons are being made right now. I made some serious changes to the piston and rod design to make it handle boost and obviously the power goal. The pistons should be finished this week, and the rods in about 3 weeks. The block is also going to be done this week. There were some issues with sleeving the block but we did it. I will show you guys some pictures of what happened during the process. Mercedes has water passages between the bores, which is pretty common but these ones are different because they are holes, so we are machining brass screws to place there. Its pretty trick. Anyways here are some pictures of the block. I'll have finished ones this weekend.

You can also see the lip where the sleeve is going to sit on the second to last pic. Some people just let it sit only on the bottom and that where you get the sleeve the sink under high stress.

It will be a CLK350 with a 6.3 liter engine with twin turbos producing 1000hp....meaning it's going to fly! Awesome project TTAMG!

Any concerns about machining so much out of the bores? I think the "break-through" areas might be a good strating point for some stress risers.

No its no issue. There are coolant passages between the bore anyways, and there is really no stress on that part of the bore. The sleeve will take all that up, and the real stress is where the sleeve sits on the block. Basicly surface with the block. The bottom and top of the sleeve is where the real stress is. Without giving to many specs on the pistons i am under sizing the bore a little to add meat in the critical areas.

Ok so last night i went and picked up the block. The sleeves came out perfect as expected. This block is honestly very stout now and should easily handle the power, and not to mention its very light too. here are some pics of the finished product. All i need to do now is finish hone it to the piston size and possibly line hone her and shes ready to rock and roll.
